Is there any forum that outlines recommended settings or are the defaults ok?
I guess I'm looking for some sort of manual on how to best use this software.

The default settings are fine in most cases, though some people do like to customize certain options. The main setting you need to look at is the URL Format dropdown box. Once you choose a format, don't change it.
