Constant Issues with VBSEO and Google Sitemaps

Hi There,

I have been generating daily sitemaps with VBSEO and have been using Google and Yahoo. I have 2 Issues. When I manually run a sitemap and re-submit to google, it seems to work fine. Currently, a sitemap is being generated by the software once per day. I will go to google daily and look to see the status of the sitemaps, and I ALWAYS see "ERROR". When I click to see whats going one, there will be 3 sitemaps there (as I have about 60k URLS) and some will have errors telling me the file isn't in the correct format. I'll try to view the file and I get this error "XML Parsing Error: not well-formed".

Additionally, sometimes I will have to re-verify my site with google. I've been pulling my .htaccess out of the main folder so and then letting google find the html file, and then I put it back but it seems like every three weeks I am getting some sort of error and I got to re-validate the site.

Any idea why my sitemaps have errors? I'm kind of irritated as it seems to work when I manually re-submit and re-generate the sitemap. It goes through with no errors there.

Please, if anyone can assist I will be very very grateful.

Thanks for any help all!

Make sure that you have only a single scheduled task in vB admincp for sitemap generator, then remove all sitemap files from data/ folder and regenerate sitemap.

This is strange. I can't seem to locate the file via ftp but I can see the url I posted above. When you say one scheduled task, what exactly are you talking about?

The URL above works because of a rewrite rule. This keeps the sitemap files from cluttering up your forum root. They are actually located in vbseo_sitemap/data directory.

OK, thanks. I deleted the old files and re-ran the sitemap. At this point, is there anything else I need to look at that would be contributing to this? I was also unsure of what you meant by having scheduled tasks.

Go to your vBulletin AdminCP and check the Scheduled Tasks section. Make sure there is one, and only one, entry for vBSEO Sitemap.

Thanks for your help. I removed one. There is another task I noticed, but it seems to be something different.
