Browsing the forum with normal URLs

I think I know what the answer will be, however if you don't ask you don't find out.

So....

Once vbSeo is installed and activated is it possible to allow registered members to browse the forum using the traditional URLs?

The reason I ask is that since installing vbseo a few members have mentioned that some workplace internet filters are not allowing them to access some pages as these contain blacklisted words, for example:

Quote:
/chat/13786-nights-out-in-essex.html
I have highlighted the word that causes the the page to be blocked.

I have no intention of removing vbseo as it is doing wonders for google generated traffic, however it would be nice to allow members to continue to use all areas of the site.

EDIT : If it is not possible to browse with traditional URLs can anybody suggest an alternative? Maybe a word replacement or something?

It is not possible, and would be undesirable for SEO purposes.

We do support stopwords. However, "sex" is NOT a word in the sample you provided. Whatever filters they are using are obviously not working correctly.

Now - I know that does not solve the problem your users are having.

There are proxies that can be used, but most will either either be blocked, or will soon get blocked after usage - not to mention that it is almost certainly a violation of company policies.

Note: Maybe they could complain to their IT guy that the filter is blocking work related sites that contain terms such as "sex" embedded in other words as well. The IT guys might then disable or fix this URL scanning feature. Again - I'm assuming it's their lunch time and break browsing period we are talking about here. They could bring their own laptop with a Wireless broadband card.

if it's a huge problem, you could always change to an ID-based re-write.

there's a preset for it in the drop down.

/f1234/
/t5678/

etc etc

no keywords that way

It's strange that the filter would catch it in the URL, but not in the content of the page itself. The same thread title exists in the content as well.
