Broken images and missing CSS, but only in FF and IE

This is weird. Just installed vBSEO on this site, and any of the rewritten URLs are displaying with no CSS and broken images in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Strangely, the CSS and related images DO show in Chrome, but the avatars are still broken.

Here's a sample URL where you can see the problem in action:

    GetGamer Gets Upgraded - GetGamer

I'm sure it's something simple, but I've searched through the forums and can't find a solution.

That weird character is NOT the problem. Actually, I have exactly the same problem when I use the default vBulletin style (with no template modifications) GetGamer - Powered by vBulletin

When I disable vBSEO, everything is fine.

    the stock template isn't stock...

    there's issues with it too.

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html

is not valid, and not part of the stock template.

The template IS in fact stock. I did a fresh vBulletin install with no modifications. There is some other problem (maybe there was a problem with some of the files when I uploaded them via Filezilla), but it is definitely the stock template.

Why? What is the point of this?

I did add this, and after I did, I got 404 errors on all the threads. I've since backed that edit out and now the threads are appearing again (at least).

Yes, I did that and when I did, the CSS would not load. The plug-in is currently disabled, and the CSS is now showing properly.

Can you please open a ticket with ftp/admincp access for troubleshooting?

    Hello Jeff ,

As i responded via ticket , the error is still there after uninstalling and removing all vSBEO files. You should disable all your hooks via config.php and reupload all original vBulletin files .

Thanks everyone for your patience and help.

The problem was with vBulletin's config.php. I had edited this using Notepad, and somehow that screwed it up. I uploaded an un-edited config.php.new then edited directly on the server with nano, and the mysterious characters finally disappeared.

So now I've reinstalled vBSEO and it's working properly -- except for a template issue and the pingback feature (see attached image). Anyone ever seen anything like this before???

I humbly suggest not using notepad or word or any of those built in programs to edit such files.

check out a free alternative called Homepage of Crimson Editor - Free Text Editor, Html Editor, Programmers Editor for Windows and you wont get those funny characters
