This area is password protected.

Version 2.1.1 of vBSEO installed. If I try to run the vbseocp.php script, I get a username and password login (which I assume is my vB admin username and password) ... the next screen, I get the following message:

This area is password protected.

I've tried all of my passwords ... read the installation docs, the troubleshooting guides, and searched the forums here ... I can't find a password for this next level ...

Thanks,
Greg

Re: This area is password protected.

It should only prompt you for the password. If you're getting asked for a username/password, then you have some type of external password protection enabled.

The file goes in your Forums directory, and not your AdminCP directory.

The file is installed in the root directory ... the username and password requests on both the first and second pages are a part of the script, not an external password request ...

it's got to be definately something other than vBSEO..because vBSEO's CP only requires a pass..and thats usually set upon installation of vBSEO.

I read the installation instructions ... and there is no mention of setting a password anywhere ...

In fact ... there is no need to even access the CP ... the install is totally automatic and seamless ... simply upload the files, upload the Product/Plugin and poof it automatically works ...

No mention of a password anywhere ... no where to set a password ...

These two pages are internal to the vbseocp.php script ...

Re: This area is password protected.

The first time you run the CP, it asks you to set a password if I remember correctly. The config file needs to be set to writeable first though.

Post a screenshot of the login screen you are seeing.

That worked ... manually edited config_vbseo.php and added a password (it was blank) ...

Double checked the install instructions ... there are no install instructions telling you to edit this file ...

Thanks for the tip ...

Thanks,
Greg

Re: This area is password protected.

I was prompted to set up a password when that field was empty.

D. Optional Step - If you would like to set up your URLs using the interface (vbseocp.php):
  1. CHMOD 666 the 'vB-root/includes/config_vbseo.php' file
  2. Using your browser, visit: http://www.yoursite.com/vB-root/vbseocp.php
  3. For security purposes CHMOD 644 back your 'config_vbseo.php' file after configuring vBSEO

change it to 666 and it works

regards

Re: This area is password protected.

I just thought of something... When you first run the script it asks you to enter a password, then re-enter the password to verify. Are you sure you didn't mis-read it and think it was prompting for a username and password?
