No matter how or where you have your domain set up don't use the entire path for the ReWrite Base.

IE : My forum is not at the root of my hosting account so I was putting the full path to get to the forum. In reality all you need to do is put the forum path in the rewritebase location. (See Example)

Code:
Options +FollowSymLinks

RewriteBase /forumpath/ <-- Your forum path for that domain
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.yourdomain\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourdomain.com/forumpath/$1 [L,R=301]
Thank you to all that helped me get this resolved and I hope this helps with any other questions that may come up regarding Go Daddy hosting. Especially since they are like the Microsoft of webhosts.
I just wanted to offer thanks for this wee explaination.

I am hosted with 1&1 and everything had been working perfectly until this evening when they updated my servers to their new software and it pickled my site bigstyle, links stopped working, images broke, links went to 404s and back to site root and whereever they fancied and all kinds of other weird and wonderful things, I was thinking about incompatibilities and all kinds of possible causes and I was in a state of panic and frantically trying every single thing that people had suggested in various posts on this forum, but the simple thing you have suggested in this post has putting everything right again for me, so thanks.
