Hi,
I've got Acronym Expansion setup with 'REPLACE acronyms as expanded text' on my site with 30,000 users, 500,000 posts on a relatively high spec dedicated server...Dual Xeon E5420 Quad, 8GB DDR2 PC5300, 15,000RPM SCSI etc
Everything seems to work OK if I keep the number of acronym replacements fairly low, i.e. less than a few hundred.
However, if I create a 1,000+ plus then forum pages takes noticeably longer to load. My site is based on wildlife and the environment, so I could easily do with adding 20,000+ replacements to my Drupal species reference pages, but it soon sends the server load up dramatically and the forum starts to really slow down
Is there a better way of setting things up than what I'm doing at the moment? Would it be best for me to have some sort of cache setup? move the replacements into a separate file from the config? choose a particular setting in acronym expansion or anything else in VBSEO or vBulletin? Increase something on my server?
Any tips would be really appreciated as this is a killer tool to have in the VBSEO arsenal and I'd really like to make the most of using it
Thanks
Stu
