    404 returning success 200

    Hello,

I am trying to verify my site with webmaster tools however when it tries to verify it says We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.

I have Send 404 HTTP code set in vbseo, using the latest version..

everything else is fine, any suggestions?

    thanks!

You can always add the meta tag to your headinclude template to validate that way.

I had the same issue when I allowed vBSEO to redirect 404's to the home page. I change it to return real 404's, validated, then changed it back. That was ~ a week ago. Today I noticed it is again "unvalidated". So I'm letting it send real 404's again for a while.
