    404 Error on Install

I've gotten vBSEO installed okay, but all I get are 301 Object Not Found Errors on every page and I'm at a loss as to know why this is happening.

I've turned it off for everything except the members' list and profiles, so you can see what's going on if need be:

    AquaFacts - Powered by vBulletin

    What needs to be fixed?

Why is there no documentation with vBSEO?

I see 404 Not Found errors. That's usually due to your .htaccess file. Did you upload that file?

(Alternatively, if you'd like to open a support ticket and provide FTP login info, we can take a look.)

Yes, I uploaded the .htaccess file. It does not work.

    Why is there no documentation?

    I mistyped, sorry.

Yes I have the .htaccess file uploaded and yes I did it in binary.

The installation documentation is included with the download. If you'd like to open a support ticket with FTP information we can take a look.

    Thanks

A one page "readme" file is not documentation.

So, you are telling me that this software that costs $149 does not have any supporting documentation at all? The only way to get any information in order to learn about the software is to read the entire forum structure? I have *no* clue how to use this software, so I have to spend countless hours reading posts to figure it out? Please don't tell me that there are descriptions in the Admin Control Panel. They really don't tell you anything. I also have read about your sitemap generator, which is supposed to be installed with SEO? There is nothing in your installation documentation that refers to that. So, is it needed or not?

Also, if there is a problem that you cannot resolve in the forums, I have to allow you to access my web server? I do hope you realize that a lot of companies with high security are going to deny installation of this software if it means that an outside party may require FTP access in order to fix problems.

As for the problem on my server, you'll need SFTP. I will create a limited account this evening and open a support ticket.

I really hope this lack of documentation is being fixed for later releases.

The one page readme includes the installation instructions, as I noted. The vBSEO Control Panel has full descriptions for each option.

Make sure your server has mod_rewrite installed and working, and then the .htaccess should work correctly.

The vBSEO Sitemap is a separate product, and can be installed if you like. We do suggest installing it since it helps get the search engines indexing your site. Don't worry about getting that installed until vBSEO is up and running though.
