Sitemaps just not working

I’m having a devil of time getting my sitemaps working. I can’t really tell if it’s working or not. Sometimes I get database errors, sometimes it runs and runs and then will timeout, sometimes the script doesn’t run for days and now Google is saying that there is a XML parsing error in the Sitemap. I’m not really sure where to begin because the errors and symptoms are different each time.

How can I tell if it is working right?

I have attached two screenshots of different errors as examples.

looks like you have a // in there instead of / after data.

This might be totoally the wrong answer, but check that your site domain is entered properly without a trailing slash in the vb options.

I checked that setting and it doesn't have that trailing slash.

We have just over a million posts and nearly 100k threads. Are there a work arounds rather then up the timeout time? I don't want to max out the CPU on the server and have the site grind to a halt. Shouldn't it take less time after the first time it runs successfully?

I set the Max URLs in Sitemap Files to 20000

Hello,

do you have any sitemap generator addons enabled in the options? You should only enable them if you have corresponding vBulletin mod installed (default configuration has no addons enabled).

I just have the default options installed I haven't attempted to install any add-ons or tweaked it in anyway. I can't find any sitemap generator options that you speak of. All I did was install it.
