sitemaps generation problem

Good Morning,

i'm runing vBulletin 4.1.2 and vBSEO 3.6.0.

i have an error notice in webmaster tools, saying that my sitemap can't be downloaded.
Indeed when I try to reach the sitemap index (sitemap_index.xml.gz), it displays an error.

What is surprising is that when i run the generator myself, it creates a valid sitemap, which is accessible.

So it seems that the cron runing the generator everyday has a problem ..

Can someone help me ?

Hello and sorry about my late answer.

When going to my sitemap index, i got the following error :
Sitemap file not found.
Nothing else, even in the source code.

But when i run the sitemap generator, then it works.

In webmastertools, it gives :
sitemap : .../sitemap_index.xml.gz
Error : the last attempt to download the sitemap failed.

I checked both of your forums and sitemap files on both forums are working correct.

Yesterday they were working correct because i regenerated the sitemap by hand.
Please try today and you'll see the problem.
(check FP please, i don't have this problem with my other forum)

This site is pretty big, and it's likely timing out during the run of the file.

make sure your wait_timeout setting is high along with the php memory_limit setting, and also consider turning off any bloat (pages besides showthread and froumdisplay) so that it can generate quicker.

You may also want to create a scheculed task directly on server level via a cronjob

There is already a cronjob generating the sitemap everyday, isn't it ?

yes, but it is 'php based' as it runs through vb.
a cron, created direct on the server cron tab, requires far less resources and will run 'easier'
