    Hello Hayden,

The .htaccess file provided with the sitemap application goes into your forum root. That allows the sitemap to "appear" to be located in your forum root, and does not require you to copy the files.

    Thanks for you help....

    You mean this?:
    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^(sitemap.*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
However, when i try to load mydomain.com/myforumsroot/sitemap_1.xml.gz in my browser it says page not found.

ok did some google-ing self help and mod_rewrite isn't enable

i edited the httpd.conf file and removed the # to enable the mod_rewrite

ran a small test .htaccess rewrite file in an unprotected directory and still no luck.

Anything else has to be done to activate mod_rewrite?

    thanks guys!

Here, you mentioned you were running IIS: Is vBSEO ready for IIS W2K3 yet?

If you're running IIS, there is no httpd.conf. Are you using Apache or IIS?
