| Sitemap-Problem + a smaller one
Hi, I've just installed vBSEO and the Sitemap_Generator Add-On. Seems everything is working. Maybe I understand something wrong, but I think I have a problem with the sitemaps. I opened a sitemap in the google webmaster tool using the URL www.*****.de/forum. This is the folder in which my forum is installed. In the vbseo sitemap reports is written that my Google Sitemap Index URL is http://www.*****.de/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz When I entered the sitemap in Google the file was wanted in the forum folder. The sitemap genarator creates the files in the folder ../forum/vbseo_sitemap/data. Does this work? I copied the files manually from the sitemap/data directory to the forum directory. In the vBSEO Sitemap Settings I tried to enter in the field Sitemap Files URL that the files should be created in the www.*****.de/forum directory, but this does not interest the program. So please can someone tell me how to install the sitemaps correctly so that Google and Yahoo can find the files? It's no problem that the program creates .gz files? The second smaller problem is, that I have not twice the entry Search Engine Friendly URL by vBSEO in the footer. I think once is enough! How can I get rid of one of the entries in the footer. I looked at the template, but I don't know which entry to delet exactly. Thank you for all. Hope you understand my english!? Harald |

You do not need to copy any files to your forum directory. That is what one of the rules does from inside your htaccess. If you go to yoursite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz it is the correct one. Think of it as a short cut. No, it is not a problem that they have a .gz extension. It is just used for compression. On the copyright, have you put: <!--VBSEO_COPYRIGHT--> in your footer? |
