    Sitemap Files URL problem

My forum is setup like this: http://www.example.com/forums

I installed VBSEO yesterday + I installed VBSEO Sitemap plugin yesterday, too.

I changed the "Sitemap Files URL" from blank/default to Example Web Page

The sitemap location then shows up updated in the reports, but when I go to the URL I get an 404 error. So, I guess the redirect is not being updated in the .htaccess file.

What do I need to change?

    Hello,

you should not change "Sitemap Files URL" option unless you include non-default URLs in sitemap.

But that would mean I need another domain setup in Google Webmasters, because it does not like the sitemap being in a subfolder.

    Yes, that's right.
If you want to move sitemap to the root though, it's described here: Sitemap in www root

    That did the trick

One last question - is the sitemap still recommended even with VBSEO installed?

    Great!
Yes - we strongly recommend to use our vBSEO Sitemap Generator in combination with vBSEO.

Thanks. We will see how it turns out. The forum is around since 2001 already .... will be interesting to see how fast it is de-indexed and then re-indexed.
