Site map confusion

This is a discussion on Site map confusion within the Troubleshooting forums, part of the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap category; Checked webmaster tools today noticed a few things that concerned me firstly there appears to be no URL's being indexed? ...

    Site map confusion

    Checked webmaster tools today noticed a few things that concerned me

    firstly there appears to be no URL's being indexed?

    secondly i am getting these sorts of issues/recommendations ...

    Can anyone give me an appropriate course of action?

    the top 3 relate to your server being down/etc at the time google tried to visit it. Note the old date. These will drop on their own in time.

    For the other 3, Make sure you have the first option in the sitemap settings for 'is vbseo installed' set to yes. There should not be ANY showthread.php urls in the sitemap.

    It is set to yes It always has been too!So what about the fact that i have 0 "urls in web index"??
    is something going wrong, am i doing something wrong or is it just like that?

    Your sitemap appears to be generating correctly with the correct urls.

    I would suggest removing the sitemap, and then re-adding sitemap_index.xml.gz to your webmaster tools area.

    still a few things to look into, but thats sorted it for the most part

    it was looking at some sitemap php file for some reason??... im sure i set it to the .gz ... ah well...

    That is likely the default vb sitemap file, which should NOT be used with vbseo (it won't pick up the vbseo'ed urls correctly)

    yeah... not sure how that happened really ...
    Too much fiddling with things by me i suspect!
