    Problem manually submitting to google

Alright I got this as my .htaccess rule:

    RewriteRule ^(sitemap.*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
    It is in /forum/

    The url I submit is:

    http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/sitemap_1.xml.gz

When I go to verify it tells me to put the html doc I create in either / or /forum/ and click verifiy.

I do this in both / and /forum/ making 100$ sure the filename is correct and it gives me the 404 header bs error.

I searched the vbulletin thread and everyones problem was the .htaccess rule... but I got that rule in there.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hello Brent,

another possible problem during Google verification was discussed here on forums and is related to the "404 Handler" setting in vbseocp.

    Details here:
    "File Not Found" requests handling?

Let us know if that helps

    That was it! Thanks

Should I submit the sitemap_index.xml.gz file or just the sitemap files?
