    Hello,
    I just made the changes suggested in this thread with the exception that I added the group discussion post to the sitemap, I then deleted the whole data file in the ftp, and uploaded a new one, chmodded it to 777.

    vBSEO Sitemap Generator : Quality vs Quantity

    I built the sitemap via schedualed task, submitted and yesterday, today I see a red X on my google webmaster tools page for the sitemaps.
    I dig down and it says it's my first sitemap, line 187,647 and when I mouse over that URL, it shows google.com/blogs/ ?
    Do you know what I did, how I can fix this?

    here is a screenshot

    thx

    If you're not using the blog service, you need to disable blogs from being included. The actual url being included is http://blogs/

    Thanks for the reply Brian.

    I'd like to include our blogs though, they were included before I made the change marco suggested, am I missing something?

    We have the vbulletin blog setup.

    If you are using it, it should include correctly. Try clearing out all the xml.gz files and re-generating manually.

    I did that twice last night before posting this... (I'll try it again 3rd time)
    Can you think of any other options?

    (edit.. still showing a red X,, guess I'll just remove the blogs from the sitemap... Wish it would work like it should.... or like it did before I made the changes)

    well I'm still getting this damn red X error, saying something about http://blogs/
    even though I have none of the blog settings selected.
    Guess I'll just go back to the way I had it.

    what a great way to waste 3 days messing with a sitemap..

    Thx anyways Brian for trying to help.

    well crap, I setup exactly how I had it before, and I'm still getting the http://blogs/ error :( FML

    *sorry for all the edits to this post, I didn't see a need to keep hitting reply*

    I'm trying to figure out what exactly is going on, I downloaded my sitemap and looked at the line that webmaster tools says is giving the http://blogs/ url, this is the line before, the line, and the one after according to webmaster tools.

    Code:
    <url>
      <loc>http://general-forums.com/t40/</loc>
      <priority>0.424</priority>
      <lastmod>2010-07-08T01:02:28+00:00</lastmod>
      <changefreq>yearly</changefreq>
    </url>
    <url>
      <loc>http://general-forums.com/t469/</loc>
      <priority>0.4928</priority>
      <lastmod>2010-07-08T01:02:28+00:00</lastmod>
      <changefreq>yearly</changefreq>
    </url>
    <url>
      <loc>http://general-forums.com/t470/</loc>
      <priority>0.4922</priority>
      <lastmod>2010-07-08T01:02:28+00:00</lastmod>
      <changefreq>yearly</changefreq>
    </url>
    red is the exact line webmaster tools is saying there is an error.
    hope this helps, I'm really getting frustrated with it to say the least..

    webmaster tools is not real time. it may take a few days for the NEW sitemap to be loaded in, even though it states it loaded today.

    When that is the case you can go into each individual file and hit resubmit.

    I thought I grabbed the files out of the download section, do you mean update the sitemap script, or the vbseo script?
    thanks for the help Brian

    Hi,

    He is referring to the vBSEO core files, the sitemap is only on Beta2 stage at the moment so hasn't even reached RC1 stage.

    Based on your sites footer copyright though "Content Relevant URLs by vBSEO 3.5.0 RC2" you are using 3.5.0 RC2 you should upgrade to 3.5.1 ASAP.
