Log files in vbseo data folder?

    Hi everyone,

As you all can see I am a new member and just starting working with vbseo on a friends site, he has had it for over two years and it has done great for his site. As I was doing some maintenance on his server I noticed allot of log files in this section:

    /forum/vbseo_sitemap/data/

There are at least 2 years of log files generated in this folder and I am not sure whether to nuke them or leave them as is? Are this log files needed for the sitemap or can they be deleted?

Again, sorry for the newbie questions

    Thanks,
    Tecmec

The log files are for the stats. You can delete them, but you will delete the stats those files represent.

the best thing to do is to set the config file to prune logs older than X days.

    open
    vbseo_sitemap_config.php

    find

define('VBSEO_SM_PRUNE', 0); // logs age in days to prune

replace the 0 with how many days you want to keep.

    the system will auto-prune daily.

Thanks for the reply, I do not think that we ever check the stats for vbseo, so I am going to go ahead and delete most of them and apply the rule you recommended.

Will deleting them affect the sitemap or urls at all?

Nope. The logs simply generate the stats that you can read on vbseo_sitemap/ reports page.
