Hundreds of failed to open stream: Permission denied errors

I won't post the whole sitemap generated report because it is hundreds of identical lines. I was checking to make sure my sitemaps were working properly (something I apparently should have done a long time ago because Google said I wasn't verified, even though I had the exact file it wanted me to put in my domain root). I am wondering why I didn't get any errors reported in the email I get every night when the sitemap is run automatically.

The only change I made to try to solve the problem was to CHMOD to 777 the /vbseo_sitemap/data folder, but it made no difference (it was originally 755) - I changed it back.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I tried re-installing the vBSEO Sitemap 2.2 - uploaded the files and imported the XML, allowing overwrite - and now I am getting database errors:

     Database error
The The Floor Pro Community database has encountered a problem.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Please try the following:
Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
Open the www.thefloorpro.com home page, then try to open another page.
Click the Back button to try another link.

The www.thefloorpro.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience.
    ---

Sorry, the reason for the database errors, apparently, was because I changed the permissions to these files in the data folder to 777 from their original 755:

    sitemap_1.xml.gz
    sitemap_index.xml.gz
    urllist.txt.gz

I don't know where those files come from. They aren't part of the upload, as you know. So, now I am back to the errors I got un my original post. No more database errors. Still no joy though, either.

Oh jeez, I need to just go to bed. I've been up all night.

I guess it is still generating database errors:
    Code:

Maybe there's an easy way to fix that missing table, but I won't be back to find out for about 4 or 5 hours. G'night.

there is no 'cats' table in vBulletin.

Looks like the problem is in 'vbseo_sm_downloads.php' which you have added to 'Addon Generator Modules' in vBSEO Sitemap Settings.

    Thanks for your reply, woostar.

Removing the file you mentioned from the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator Addon Generator Modules did not stop the database errors. That file, vbseo_sm_downloads.php, is part of the upload folder in vBSEO Sitemap. It also includes vbseo_sm_downloads2.php, vbseo_sm_vba.php and vbseo_sm_vba_links.php. I tried removing each of these. Once all of them had been removed, I got no more database errors. However, I still get hundreds of lines of errors, just as I reported in my first post.

Of those modules, I wonder if I should have at least vbseo_sm_vba.php because I use vBadvanced CMPS.

I clicked your link above and got an error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /home/ejm/public_html/tfpcom/community/vbseo_sitemap/addons/vbseo_sm_downloads.php on line 21

But I got virtually the same error when I used the file name of all of those modules:

downloads2 = Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /home/ejm/public_html/tfpcom/community/vbseo_sitemap/addons/vbseo_sm_downloads2.php on line 21
vba = Fatal error: Call to a member function query_read() on a non-object in /home/ejm/public_html/tfpcom/community/vbseo_sitemap/addons/vbseo_sm_vba.php on line 29
    vba_links = Fatal error: Call to a member function query_read() on a non-object in /home/ejm/public_html/tfpcom/community/vbseo_sitemap/addons/vbseo_sm_vba_links.php on line 24

    I'm clueless on those.

    Thanks,

    Jim

You should remove them from vBSEO Sitemap Generator options->Addons list (not physically remove the files).

    Hi Oleg,

Yes, that is what I did. The files are still in the folder. There are no Addon Generator Modules in the list in the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator options. I get hundreds and hundreds of lines of those errors I showed above whenever I do a manual sitemap generation. Many of the errors are just repeated, but there are many that aren't on the short list I showed above. If I were to copy all them here, I'd break the place.

I reinstalled the sitemap, as I mentioned above, but that didn't fix anything.

Which messages do you mean - db errors or fopen/fwrite erros? To resolve fwrite issue you should make sure that permissions are setup correctly - 0777 for vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder and 0666 for all files inside data/ folder (if any).

I was referring to the fopen/fwrite errors. I do have the vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder permissions set to 0777, but had to change all the files in it from 755 to 666. There was also another folder in there called "hits" and I thought that should be 777ed too and all the files in it 666ed.

Inside the vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder, there are several files I want to be clear that you want at 666 because they are not nnnnnnnnnn.log files. These files are:

    downloads.dat
    sitemap_1.xml.gz
    sitemap_index.xml.gz
    urllist.txt.gz

The downloads and the sitemap_index files have not been modified since Jan 4, 2008, but the other 2 have been modified 11/16/2008 5:47 AM (server time).

After changing the permissions to all the files, I did a manual run and this was the result:
    Code:

The time stamp on those files I mentioned reflects the manual run I just did, 11/17/2008 11:27 AM. Looks like the problem is resolved. As long as my permissions are set up properly for those files I mentioned, I guess I am good to go.

    Thank you, Oleg.
