Hundreds of 404's on google.com/webmaster.. help?

Can someone explain to me why I am receiving hundreds of these 404's? All the links on my site work, but I dont even know where is getting some of these...

For example:

http://www.uscoininfo.com/content/flying-eagle-91/ is actually U.S. Coin Info - Flying Eagle Cent (1856-1858) - One Cent Piece of the United States ?

Then for some reason it is it shows every link to my gallery which is photopost, with SEO friendly links enabled... it is showing hundreds of different links in the same pattern:

http://www.uscoininfo.com/gallery/Northern%20Europe/showphoto.php?photo=80

etc

As most of these are dated in the past, it was likely a hiccup, and they are correct to 404 now. They will eventually drop from the index.

Regarding photpost, google will NOT index non-content pages. showphoto.php is simply an image display script. It should not be included in your sitemap, and i would recommend robots.txt out showphoto.php

How can I get google to index all these gallery pages?? Can someone help me out with this? I have my photopost gallery rewritten, for instance they rewrite to gallery/g1252-russia.html (Russia - Coin Database) I believe the rewrite for this one is: RewriteRule ^gallery/(.*)/p([0-9]+)-(.*).html$ gallery/showphoto.php?photo=$2 [L]


Any help would be great...

Descriptions are the key to getting pages like this indexed. Without text, google rarely will index the page, just the picture in the images directory.

We have HTML Header's which are the image name:

1943-P Double Die Jefferson Nickel - Coin Database so that is a start.

Then there is the URL, which helps too.... some of the images have notes and information: Jamaica 1987 10 Dollars. - Coin Database but should we somehow figure out a way to put this in metadata?

It's the on-page content that will factor more than the metadata will.
