Howto prevent crawling of Private Forums

I don't want private forums crawled and reported to search engines. How can I exclude them from the SEO process?

make them private

if guest can't see them, spiders and search engines wont either.

Disable those sections of your forum within a robots.txt file.

Do this by adding a line such as
Disallow: /myprivatesection
