| Google/Yahoo Sitemap has been successfully generated
I receive the following e mail - The vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap has been successfully generated for your vBulletin forums at: StockCharting.com Traders Forum (http://www.stockcharting.com/forum) However when I go to Google web master tools it says: " You have not submitted any Sitemaps. Submit a Sitemap to help Google discover pages our crawlers might not otherwise find". Do I need to submit a site map file as well or do anything on my side in any directory with any code to get Google to see the site map? Also, Receiving the following 404 (Not found) message - in My Google Webmaster account under web crawl errors. http://www.stockcharting.com/forum/archive/f-24.html 404 (Not found) Why is this showing? Can I remove this URL without any consequences? Thank you. |

you can 'attach' your sitemap to your webmasters' account. put in stockcharting.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz as your link to submit. as for the archive, see: Why the vBulletin archive is useless and counterproductive |

Thanks, I added the url to my webmasters accoount. I assume it is already in the correct file in the root directory for them to crawl is this correct? or do I have to add it there? Also, I looked at your archive link but am still not sure what to do with the issue: Receiving the following 404 (Not found) message - in My Google Webmaster account under web crawl errors. http://www.stockcharting.com/forum/archive/f-24.html 404 (Not found). Can I just delete this or should I disable something in vBulletein. Thanks for you assistance. I appreciate it. |

You are getting the error 404 from Google, as it generates a 404 when you click on the link, try it and you will see what I mean http://www.stockcharting.com/forum/archive/f-24.html That forum number don't exist on your archive. Have you deleted it or hidden it at all? |

Not that I know of. I guess I can just delete the link in Google webmaster since there is nothing there. Is that ok to do?

If you go into your admin panel, and then forums, you should see the forum ID number, look for 24 and see if it is still there or not.

I went into the ADMIN and I think you wanted me to go to the Forum Manager and there is Display Order - Is that what you mean. There is no 24 in there if I am looking in the correct place. There once was but it was removed when we changed some posts. Am I looking in the correct place? |
