Google ping: FAILED.

This is the first time that I am aware of that a Google ping failed. I ran it again and got the same result. I haven't changed anything. Can someone give me a clue why it might have happened?

Hello Jim,

did you you have pings working correctly before (and when it stopped)?
Could you please open a support ticket with your vbseo_sitemap/ password to check this.

Thank you for details. It turned out that google has just changed their sitemap ping URL, so code modification is required in vbseo_sitemap_functions.php file.
FIND:

PHP Code:

           $gurl = 'http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap='.urlencode($url); 


REPLACE WITH:

PHP Code:

           $gurl = 'http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ping?sitemap='.urlencode($url); 


Thank you, Oleg, that did the trick. You might want to remove the 2 trailing spaces at the end of the FIND: code. My first attempt at finding it came up "not found". When I back-spaced twice to the semi-colon and tried again, I found the string.

Which folder is this file in please.

It's located in vbseo_sitemap/ folder.

I dont think I have that folder setup somehow.

Did you install vBSEO Sitemap?

I think i didnt lol..

Just downloading it now. What version shall I use ? 1.7 ?
