Frequency Sitemap

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I have noticed that Google updates their search for the site less and less - yet - there are hundreds of posts made each day. Is there a timing in the sitemap which can be changed and I have it set wrong?

Update: The options in the control panel are set to daily but the Google cache is usually 2-3 days old. Since the site continues to fall in the search engine keyword, my concern is that I have a setting wrong. The setting for sitemap size was changed to 15,000 this morning.

Hello,

this Sitemap attribute doesn't guarantee that pages will be re-crawled daily and only provides an idea on how often the page changes on your site.

Please note that the value of this tag is considered a hint and not a command. Even though search engine crawlers consider this information when making decisions, they may crawl pages marked "hourly" less frequently than that, and they may crawl pages marked "yearly" more frequently than that. It is also likely that crawlers will periodically crawl pages marked "never" so that they can handle unexpected changes to those pages.

Thank you for the reply. I really need to figure out why Google is dropping the site lower and lower. For over a year, the site was number 12-14 and now sits on the third page
