Expert Help - Site Down Forum Down Upgrade to PHP 5

We are on a shared server of 1 and 1 hosting Business Package.

We upgraded to php 5 by changing a simple document item as php 5 is supposedly already available on our shared server.

Strangely it made our front page greymatter blog disappear:

Legion of Angels - which is now fixed since we took the document back off.

But it also made my forum go down stating this:

Quote:
Site error: the file /homepages/26/d196297218/htdocs/forum/vbseo.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.
Where is this file? Or what do I have to modify to make this work?

We are upgrading to php 5 because we need to use a code that was made on php 5 for a non-vb page.

I don't understand all the problems. My coder believes that even though the guy at the host states that PHP 5 is available for my shared server I'm on, that it's not because he looked this up:

phpinfo()

The server people advised me that each site owner has to make the change listed here in there FAQ:

1&1 Webhosting FAQ | What do I need to consider if I want to use PHP 5?

As it seems we can use whatever version of PHP is available on our server that we want.

I'm really lost here, need expert help.

The current versions of vBSEO do not require Ioncube, so you best bet (and easiest solution) is just to install the latest version of vBSEO.

Sorry for putting this in the wrong location, I'm trying to talk to my coder, my host and this at the same time.

I've never installed vbseo before, do I just upload the Upload file and the htacces and hit overwrite, or should I be safe and let my coder do it?

I've installed vb mods before but I've never done SEO.

While were in the Sitemap forum, do I need to change sitemap info, or will that work fine with the upgrade of vbSEO 3.2 Gold.

You are basically correct. Just upload the new files, update your .htaccess (some changes in it with the new 3.2.0 system), and import the product and you should be good to go. Be sure to backup your vbseo settings (if you can access the vbseocp.php) still. If not, then make sure you keep an extra copy of the ./includes/config_vbseo.php.

Also, you will need to upgrade your sitemap generator (same way as above, minus the .htaccess)

What changes are required for the .htaccess, can you link me to some thread explaining that?

Or can I not just overwrite the .htaccess? I bet I don't want to do that.

Well if you had the default .htaccess, then you can simply overwrite it.

I honestly hit copy and replace all files.

The version we bought needed IonCube or something at that time, I remember it giving us a choice of that or something called Zen Uploader, I have no idea.

But yeah I hit copy/replace all files.

Pre 3.1.0 vbseo was encoded in either zend or ioncube, from 3.1.0 and on, it was no longer encoded. I would go ahead and open a new support ticket and give us your FTP info and an Admin account and one of us will look into it.

Ok well you tell me if it's still necessary. I just want to make sure my vBSEO is working right and honestly I'd rather have one of you check the .htaccess and sitemap if you could since I don't know what i'm doing there and I don't see the changes listed, anywhere unless you did them for us in the .htaccess folder of 3.2

But the host guy actually went and got the IonCube file that required and it works now, he fixed it and I don't know why. Nor do I know why the IonCube needs to be there if you say it doesn't for 3.2.0.

So let me know if someone wants to look at this, and I'll make a support ticket.

Ok I opened a support ticket, we have no idea what to change in the sitemap generator or the .htaccess for upgrading to 3.2.0 gold.
