    Errors with sitemap

Okay this is really frustrating now. I don't know exactly what happened to my sitemaps but whenever I submit one, it keep saying "ERRORS" status in red while editing the sitemaps generator on Google. It's happening to me on BOTH of my forums. And when I click on the red errors link, it says this...

This Sitemap has the following errors:

    Errors
    Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.
I tried to resubmit it for a billion of times and I'm still getting the same error. What could be the problem? Maybe it's because I have moved to a new server and while it was down for days, the generator couldn't create the latest sitemaps for my sites? I don't know really.

The URL to my sitemap is right here: http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Also I had like over 10,000 indexed pages before the server move and now it's dropped down to 6,000 pages. What's going on in here!?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I get an error when I go to that link... It looks like you may have a problem with your directory permissions. Make sure your sitemap data directory and all files in it have 777 permissions.

Well, I have CHMOD these folders to 777 already. "vbseo_sitemap", "addons", "data", and "hits". Isn't that alright? But I haven't CHMOD'ed the files 'cause I'm not sure which ones to do exactly.

Looks like you fixed it. The link above, to your sitemap index, works now.

Yeah I did fix it but I don't think my server is safe now because I've CHMOD almost all the files to 777 including the log ones. And I mean everything even the files in the "vbseo_sitemap" folder.

Thanks for your support anyway, Keith!

Im having the same problem, I did 777 to every file that has to do with the vbseo sitemap. My link still doesnt work.

    http://www.b20vtec.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz or
http://www.b20vtec.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz since im not sure which it is. they both come back with the same results.

Please help me. I want to get this right before I buy the vbseo software.

I found that my sitemap_index.xml.gz file isnt 777 but it wont let me change it now.

    I mod_rewrite and its on.

and this link works http://b20vtec.com/forums/vbseo_site...p_index.xml.gz but I know thats not how it should show up.

thank you for the support. For some reason I moved the text file over then renamed it. I deleted that and moved the file already named htacess and this link works within the admin control panel. http://b20vtec.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz. But what link do I submit?

    http://b20vtec.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz still isnt working.

Not sure if it matters but I have htaccess files in both my b20vtec.com/ and b20vtec.com/forums

Using internet explorer to ftp in didnt let me see all of my files.

this is my access file in b20vtec.com/

Great! You should submit your sitemap from the forums root:
