I get Error while submitting my sitemap to google after upgrading from 2.6 beta --> 3

General HTTP error: 404 Not Found
We encountered an error trying to access your Sitemap. Make sure your sitemap is consistent with the guidelines and can be accessed at the location you specified. Then try again.

what is the problem ?

Please make sure you are submitting the correct url.

If your server is slow, you may need to reduce the number of urls per file. Google has a VERY low timeout. If it takes more than 4 seconds or so to load your sitemap, google will mark it as a 404. If your server can't generate and produce a finished document in this time, cut back on the url count per file.

well , it was working fine when using the 2.6 beta . but after upgrading it seems that search the /sitemap_1.xml.gz . When i CLICK ON sitemap_index.xml.gz IT SHOW me sitemap_1.xml.gz with the 404 error .

Not that I run the generator . and checked the sumission of the adecuat url .
I will see if it is a matter of time .

sitemap_x format no longer exists in sitemap 3.0.

They are now named in

sitemap_SECTIONNAME_X format.

when i click on sitemap_index.xml.gz i found that it still and -only - contain /sitemap_1.xml.gz with Error

It must not be completing then.

You should delete all xml.gz files from the data/ folder and re-generate the sitemap manually.

If it times out, you may need to adjust settings on your server to let it process completely.
