uncheck the radio button next to include showpost urls.
    save.

delete all xml.gz files from vbseo_sitemap/data folder

then, regenerate the sitemap manually from /vbseo_sitemap
In that place i dont have any option with this "include showpost urls".

    Max URLs in Sitemap Files
    Include Show Post Pages
    Include Member Profile Pages
    Include Archive Pages
    Include Show Thread Pages

etc... but not that can you confirm is that right place?

    Best Regards

I've been getting the redirect error:

URLs not followedWhen we tested a sample of URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs redirect to other locations. We recommend that your Sitemap contain URLs that point to the final destination (the redirect target) instead of redirecting to another URL.

    HTTP Error: 301
    URL: http://www.myspain.es/forum/56144-post879.html
Problem detected on: Apr 30, 2010

I just disabled "Include Show Post Pages" as you said in a previous post but my sitemap has gone from 5 to 2 files.

    1. Does that sound right? and if so will if affect any of the posts that are already submitted to Google?
    2. Also I've seen on other pages on here that it's recommended to disabled the archive pages to? is that advisable for my situation/error?

I've reverted it back until I get the go ahead

    Thanks Brian

    I have the same issue.
I removed Show post option, then removed old sitemaps from the data directory and regenerated. I'm still getting the red X

    --update--
    Dug down a little further and saw this error message for Google;

    17097 Invalid URL
This is not a valid URL. Please correct it and resubmit. URL: http:///blogs/
    Parent tag: url
    Tag: loc
Problem detected on: May 4, 2010

I removed any blog entries in the config, deleted old ones, regenerated, and resubmitted... all set

    Hi,

Your issue is cause because you are including showpost URL's in your sitemap but you have have set vBSEO to redirect showposts to a permalink format, you should disable "Include Showpost URL's" in your sitemap settings then delete all the XML.GZ files in the data folder and finally regenerate the sitemaps.

    Hi,

Glad to hear you got your issue fixed... and yes if you are not using the blogs package you need to make sure blogs is disabled in the config.

    Hi Ceri,

Thanks for the reply however my question was is it normal to have a now 6 file sitemap and once you turn showpost urls off it goes to a 2 file sitemap?!

It's probably completely normal but I just want to make absolutely sure and that I wont lose already submitted urls to google.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Ahhh sorry I missed that part of the post, yes this totally normal as you may only have 1,000 thread but if each of those threads have 10posts then you would have 10,000 showpost URL's and you are removing these from your sitemap. This is a good thing as the showpost URL's are useless and just cause bloat as you can see by your sitemaps being 6 files big when it only needed to be 2.
