Can't generate sitemaps either with cron or by browser without timeout

I'm unable to generate sitemaps from either the cron setting or by running the sitemap generator from reports. It processes about 3/4 way, then hangs. If I click run generator again, it then finishes up the stalled report and submits.

Also, I'm not trying to process anything too large, such as posts. Just threads, forums.

Any ideas?

Please make sure your MySQL wait_timeout setting is set to 175

Tried raising to 175. Maybe I should clarify, it hangs when running from the sitemap generator in the reports section and also from the vb scheduled task manager. If you let it run and then hang about 3/4 way through and then go re-generate it, it picks up where it left off and finishes.

Not sure what to try now?

how about max_execution_time ? try 90 seconds.

Are you referring to mysql or php settings for that?

Hmm, well last night with the scheduled tasks, the sitemap generate started, but got hung again. I suppose when I created the sitemap successfully yesterday, it was smaller and ran ok.

Should I try raising max_execution_time above a 100?
