Any suggestions?

vBulletin 3.6.8
vBSEO 3.0.1d
vBSEO SiteMap Generator 2.0 (20,000 URLs per file)
PHP 5.2.4
PHP Max Post Size 55mb
PHP Max Upload Size 30mb
PHP Memory Limit 32mb

Add delay after creation of each sitemap. You can find the option @ vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator Options :

Delay Execution After Each Sitemap File

I already have it set for 3 seconds.

I'm going to try to bump it up to 5 seconds and decrease the per file count to 10K.

No affect.

When manually creating the sitemap from the generator interface it seems to complete OK but when trying to access it in any fashion is when the error comes up.

When trying to access the file {url}/sitemap_index.xml.gz is when the error occurs.

For example, when in the Sitemap control panel and where it says "Your Google Sitemap Index URL: http://{url}/sitemap_index.xml.gz" -- Clicking on the link produces the error.

What is the size of data/downloads.dat file? (it must be huge to cause memory_limit issue) Try to remove/rename it.

8,385kb.

I deleted the file as well as all of the old various sitemap_X.xml.gz files, recreated it and all seems to be good again in the world.
