1977 sitemap files.. Is it possible??

Hello, I have a problem..

Until three months ago, we had only 6 sitemaps files.

Now, checking it, I see that there are 1977 sitemaps files generated.. Is it posible??

what's the possible problem on it?

What URL types are you including in the sitemap ?

Make sure the showpost (& tag) pages aren't included.
Also, is the 'include old urls' option turned on, or off ?

Please manually delete every file inside vbseo_sitemap/data folder expect .htaccess and index.php
Make sure you have include showpost pages , include old urls are disabled and then regenerate sitemaps

If you have vBSEO, include old urls? is NO

Include Show Post Pages is YES

Include Tag Pages is YES




What should I change on that settings before deleting and regenerating sitemaps??

I deleted all files in vbseo_sitemap/data except index.php and .htaccess. There were a lot of files (thousands) and a lot of .log files and a file called downloads.dat (what about that files?)

Then I regenerated sitemaps, and I have only one now..
