    Hello,

    When you actually view the sitemap, are the URLs that it contains correct?

    This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

    <sitemapindex xsi:schemaLocation=" Index of /schemas/sitemap/0.9 http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/09/siteindex.xsd">

    Hi,

    Looking at your sitemap I can see you are experiencing a known bug that adds /a/ to most of your URL's example

    <url>
    <loc>http://*******.net/a/62-we-have-new-member-rinoax.html</loc>
    <priority>0.6117</priority>
    <lastmod>2010-01-05T02:32:01+00:00</lastmod>
    <changefreq>weekly</changefreq>
    </url>
    Stemap Generator has been updated to fix this problem. Please try downloading the latest version. We have added the beta to the download section.

    I am stuck at 1 indexed out of 51,121 submitted - the site map looks OK when accessed from google webmasters.

    Any input?

    cheers

    Hi Roy,

    Please try the Beta of vBSEO Sitemap Generator 2.6 in your Downloads area.

    (I'm going to have to guess that you are on vBulletin 4.0 and are running 2.5 or lower of Sitemap Generator. If that's not the case, please advise. )

    *edit* The URLs in your Sitemap do look fine.. are there any warnings in Webmaster Tools?

    Hi Ace,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I am running vb4.0 and 2.6 sitemap and just before I posted re-installed 2.6B1 just in case I had the same problem at the top of this thread.

    Situation is just the one URL indexed:

    The error message is: sitemap_index.xml.gz Error: The last attempt at downloading the Sitemap failed. The details below are representative of the last successful download

    In sitemap_index3 there is an error and I have checked this to a badly formed URL (has '/blogs/' for the url at the error location in the file).

    Will the whole process fail on just an error in the last sitemap file?

    Can disable blogs from generation to check.

    regards

    Roy

    update: did do a test with blogs excluded no difference

    Oooh, I don't know whether that one error's going to break it, it might though.

    It might pay to do that to check (and wait for someone a bit more knowledegable than I to chime in)

    Please make sure if you are on vb4 that you are using the latest sitemap build from the downloads area. Several bugs have been corrected since it's original release.

    Indexing Progress

    The current state of play is I have submitted 45,790 URLs of which 34,065 have been indexed - so 75% indexing at the moment which is not bad. Also the errors in the sitemap are being slowly flushed out.

    I only index Blogs, Threads and Display pages as there were loads of errors coming in from TAGS etc. - also I made sure I had not re-submitted a lower level sitemap file (sitemap_1.xml.gz say) as this resulted in this sitemap being ignored and only having 1 url indexed. So make sure that the only 'submitted' sitemap is the index file and let Google find the included files - also give Google a few days to sort itself out.

    One thing I cannot sort out is the 404's coming in from blog comments not being found - is there a way to exclude blog comments from the generation?

    cheers

    Roy

    By the way I did give up completley on the VB4 built in generator as Google seems incapable of following the php calling approach favored by vb and no-one over there seems to be able to help.

    You must use vbseo sitemap generator if you use vbseo. Vb's native generator will not pick up vbseo'ed urls.

    Currently, there is not way to disable just the blog comments.
