Wondering the best way to upgrade...

I'm currently runing vB 3.6 and I'm thinking about buying a new license to install 3.8.

Now, on 3.6 I also have zoints SEO installed in my current forum. Obviously if I uninstall it all my pages are going to get screwed up in the search results.

Does VB Seo or any of you guys know of an Apache rewrite that can handle the rewrites of zoints seo techniques into VB seo's so my index's aren't broken?

    Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately, that page is configured to display to customers only.

However, it describes setting up custom 301 redirects in your htaccess file to direct Google (and other search engines) to find the new location of your vBSEO URLs.

So you would remove Zoints, install vBSEO, and have our team give you the custom rules to help forward the old to the new.

You will be provided with this information via a support ticket once you submit your purchase.

    Welcome aboard.

How long would it take to get the rewrite rules for Zoints? I don't want to risk having 404 pages for more than a hour...

You can request the directives *before* you install. If you run into any issues when staff is not available, you could un-install the special rules and open a support ticket.

Alternatively, you could purchase our install service so that staff can complete it on your behalf.

    I would recommend:

    • Waiting for staff to provide the special rules.
    • Do the install.
    • Add the rules.
    • Ensure they are working.
      • If not, remove only the rules (not the vBSEO install)
      • Contact support for new rules.
