Will vBSEO Install Service fix file permissions?

(I believe in descriptive subject lines... there it is!)
Non-technical admin has been tinkering with phpBB, upgraded to vBulletin, now I'm looking to purchase vBSEO with install services.

Several times I've encountered problems where the quick and easy solution to get things working was to chmod 777 a file or directory. I'm not a huge fan of having 777 files anywhere unless needed.

Will the install service fix inappropriate file permissions while they're in there? If not, CAN this fix be purchased as an add-on?

    TIA!

    Hello Case,

File permission changes required for vBSEO installation will be applied in case if installation service is ordered.

Our service only covers configurations specific to vBSEO. As Oleg stated, we'll ensure the vBSEO permissions are correct. However, we do not provide a service to evaluate the rest of your forum and/or website for permission issues.

Just to let you know there aren't any default vBulletin files or folders that need to be 0777 permission wise that I can recall at the moment.

Yeah, I've just botched enough while trying to admin my own ftp server that in order to get custom avatars, etc. working we had to 777 a few things. Those recursive unix commands can be dangerous in the hands of newbie server admins!

Does anyone have a general list of permissions for vBulletin?

Hmmm... I guess if I were a Mod here I'd probably give myself one of my "I'm moving your off-topic stuff to an appropriate area" speeches now! ... sorry.

Well I would say the only ones that need to be chmodded to 777 are the ones that you use for uploads. Examples if you have signatures, attachments, avatars, etc on the file system rather then database.

And no need to move this thread
