will vbseo help my site?

ok, I am just courious to know how much vbseo will help get this site rolling?

WebSite Help Forums - Powered by vBulletin

it is a new site and am trying to get some people on it, but having a bit of trouble. I am currently using Zoints SEO for my SEO.

The site is listed on google, but no ranking. I have used WebPosition4 to help with keywords and stuff, but have had little luck with it.

I know it takes time for bots to get to know your site better, but I simply want to get people to start using this forum, so i can start making money.

Any seggestions would be AWESOME!

BTW... I am very computer savy (actually i am a php & JS programmer my self), i would love to know how it will help me, not just yes or no.

PS: happy b-day vbseo!

I'd say yes, I know it's better than Zoints SEO for several reasons, the great support here being one of them.. I don't believe Zoints SEO is even officially supported by the creators.

However, it's important to have realistic expectations and recognize that vbSEO is not something that will make your page an overnight success. vbSEO enhances the page you already have, it doesn't do the hard work of creating the page for you.

As far as my suggestions for your page:

The biggest issue I see with your site is lack of content. You're saying you're having trouble getting people, that's probably because when they view your site, there's really nothing to do.

Spiders do take time to get to know your site better, but they can only work with what's actually there.. they don't know your intentions, they know the content you provide for them.

You have a lot of forums, but most of them are empty. Having several articles in each of them relating to the topic at hand would go a long way, not only for spiders to understand what your page is about, but making it more interesting for the 6 visitors who are on the site right now..

And those articles should be updated and new articles should be added, etc, so that your community can grow and have something to build upon. It's hard enough to get people to register on a page, but if they visit your site and it looks deserted, they're going to move on.

vbSEO will help, but only when in combination with good content.

Also, fix your META Description.. anyone who comes across your site searching is going to assume it's some spam domain when they see this:

"WebSite help? WebSite help, web design help, web help, site help web page help, web master help, php, hml help, javascript help and more!"

Make it a coherent sentence instead.

Make a custom theme. Right now it's pretty much the default theme with a new logo. Along with that, browse vBulletin.org and get some interesting (but useful) modifications. If you're running a 'web help' site, people want to feel like they're visiting a page run by people who are advanced enough to modify their page.. the default theme and lack of custom feel is going to hurt you.

That should get you started, but to close, yes, vbSEO will help as you build your page, and it's always nice to get an early start and get your link structure set and in place.

Thanks for your reply... what i will likely do is wait to get some good content on the site and then purchase vbseo.

Thanks,

All: you need to build up some content yourself. Write an article about something you know very well. Then start a discussion about a very controversial topic, invite some friends to talk about that and other topics they are interested in. You need to offer something to people, try to work on building a very small group of members and ask them to help you build content and discussion.

Also work on marketing: post your link in your signature on already succesfull boards, do a lot of posting on boards, try to convince people that you know your stuff, that works like a magnet. People want information, this is the best way to build up a board from the ground. Offer something other boards don't have, or maybe concentrate on making it better.

About vbseo: it only helps when your site has something to offer, it's not a magic solution, but it does it's job very well. I recommend that you install right away and start with what I suggested above asap

I have started an article on learning JavaScript, but it is still in the makeing...

I am also already apart of other sucessfull borards like sitepoint and a leasser known one called "Advanced HTML for Beginners". I do have a link in the signature of almost every board i am on, (with a few exceptions). And have submitted the site to many online directories.

When the site starts making money... i will start offering extras, like free domain names to people who post often, write articles, use the site regularly, ask questions regularly, or whatever (maybe something like 1 domain name for every 100 posts or 200 posts).

I may even offer a new idea i came up with, that will allow people to put a google ad in their signature (on random posts 1 out of every 10 or so). That way people will be encuraged to use the board to make money.

I do like the idea of getting friends to start posting content and probably will, what i might also do is go into chat rooms and in exchange for helping people in chat rooms is ask them to register and post a single question (whatever i would be helping them with) that way i get some free content. (trust me people will do it, in exchange for help).

I have a few ideas, but many of them require money, and right now the site hasnt made a penny!

Yep I didn't earn anything the first year, some donations from members at the end of the year just to pay the bills! All I know is that if you really want it, you will succeed, it just takes time and a lot of work. But it's all worth it in the end
