On whether domains may be changed

I just bought a vBulletin license. I went to buy a vbSEO license, but the purchase process requires that we state our domain up-front. My artist is still trying to decide which brand he wants to build out; as such, I'm not yet sure which domain this tool will be used on.

With vBulletin, I can just change my domain later; as long as there's only one, they don't care what it is. That meant I could just buy it on my best guess, knowing that later if I needed to I could update it.

Can I do that with vbSEO too, or should I postpone my vbSEO purchase until Chris has made a decision?

I confess I'd like to get the purchase done soon, but I need to know whether I'm going to be able to update that domain later if I need to.

----

Incidentally, what is the point of the presales contact form? All it does is spit back email that it can't post a message. First it's because you aren't registered in an account, then it's because you haven't ratified the account, but once you've done those, it just fails without telling you why.

Given that the warnings are only given in email after you've already tried to ask for help, and given that vbSEO mail goes straight to the spam folder, this introduces extremely frustrating delays into the process; I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that most people never find those replies, and that you're losing a lot of potential customers who think they're being ignored.

Wouldn't you be better off without that form, just to point here, since the form apparently is not usable?

Exclamation Clarification required

The link you pointed me at is ambiguous. Does setting the first domain on initial registration count as a "change"? If it does, it'll be 3 months before I can switch; if it doesn't, I can start today.

As far as the form, writing a single line above it would resolve the problem.

The reason we have that policy is to protect our users. SEO needs link consensus and if our users keeps switching their domains there is no way for them to succeed with their board. However if you establish your site and give time with the link consensus you can easily see that your stats will grove and you'll succeed on your site.

dude, i didn't ask why you had the policy. i asked for a yes or no clarification of the policy. please actually read what someone says before responding. it's really frustrating to see someone miss the point of the question twice in a row.

yes or no, does the first registered url count as a "change" for purposes of the 90 day limit on the next change?

I believe our policy is pretty clear John. Once you purchase a license for domain x , you can't update your licensed domain for another 90 days. After 90 days you can request a change on your licensed url.

You could ask for a test licence, I believe they allow this. So you can build the domain etc. Its worth asking that just for clarity. ie register for vBSEO and then ask for another domain test URL

Talking Awesome.

Gedsta: thank you, that may be exactly what I need.

So, just to be clear, I could do my setup and so forth on foo.com, then when my artist said "we're going to use bar.com", I could set that instead?

What I'm worried about is whether I can buy without knowing bar.com ahead of time. If I can buy using the "test domain", then switch to the correct one later, that's exactly what I need.

Who would I ask for such a thing, and where? In here, in email, etc?
