What happens if I don't like it and un-install it?

I have been researching a bit and I am considering purchasing vbseo. But I read that it could present problems with search engine rankings if it is uninstalled. They were referring to 301 rewrites. Can you explain this to a newbie.

Detailed support is only offered to verified customers. If you don't like vBSEO and uninstall it , you basically need to add redirect rules to your .htaccess which will redirect vBSEO'd urls to standard urls. There is nothing else to explain in here.

I don't recall asking for detailed support Mert and wasn't looking for a full explanation. I was just trying to find out before I spent quite a bit of money on this product what I would be able to do if I didn't like it. I am not a computer guru and didn't want to get in over my head. I was told that you folks were pretty good at tech support and helping folks but your response came across as quite "grouchy".

Sorry if you took Mert's comment as 'aggressive'. Please understand that English is not his native language and some of his posts are sometimes 'lost in translation'.

If you are not technical, you can always order our installation service along with the license and one of our technicians will perform the install.
SEO takes time. It doesn't happen over-night and you may see losses before net gains. It's normal, and the processes needs to fully run its course at the search engines.
If you decide you don't like it, I would suggest you at least wait 6 months before making any rash decisions. If you do decide to uninstall, we can provide some basic rules to redirect back to standard vb urls for the threads. Please note, we do not offer refunds past 30 days and then only based on software failure as outlined: vBSEO™ - End User License Agreement (EULA)
You can always re-sell your license on a 3rd party webmaster site if you so choose as well.

Thanks Brian for the explanation. I don't mind installing it myself and will do the required reading and asking questions to learn the product. If I decide to purchase the product I will certainly give it due time and at this point I don't see any reason why I wouldn't like it. I just try to plan for every contingency and many times un-installing something is much harder than installing it.

Well I purchased it and have it installed, so be warned lots of questions will follow. I have the default settings for now but plan on tweaking as necessary. Where do you recommend I start reading. There seems to be information everywhere.

I would suggest picking a rewrite format now, and never change it again. You don't want to change this once established.

Everything has a little 'help' burb within the CP that describes what each item /setting does.

It is really up to you. Each preset has their own little quirks or functions that some want and others don't. It's really personal preference. I personally use a modified version of preset 002 which uses forum names on forum display instead of fXX/

thanks Brian but I am new to this, is there a topic on the website here that explains the differences? I am only somewhat adept at this stuff in other words, I don't know what the *&&^^%%% I am doing 90 percent of the time, the other 10% is totally accident, but I am a quick learner.

There are no differences , you need to decide which one to use or customize rewrite rules according to your taste.

It's really all personal preference. vbseo does 95% of the core fundamental seo stuff behind the scenes and isn't really configurable. The other 5% is to make it look how you want, and has little effect on 'how' the program will work.

each setting has a help blurb next to it. If that doesn't advise you enough, try a quick search. If that doesn't help either, feel free to ask for more detailed help.

Thanks Brian that sounds good. I was able to explore the url rewrite stuff and I am learning fast but your response answers my concerns. Steep learning curve for a newbie!
