Very quick question

Hello,

I have just confirmed my web hosting company does not support mod_rewrite on the Windows plan i am on. Therefore the v1.6.1 version supplied on Vbulletin will not work.

Would purchasing the full version bypass the problem of the .htacess file and miraciously work some other way?

Are you talking about the Sitemap Generator?

It is a free modification.

The Windows version uses ISAPI_Rewrite.

The free version is all that you need.

Please can you elaborate a bit further. Do i need to install something to get this working with IIS?

You need to have ISAPI_Rewrite installed, if it's not already.

To elaborate further: There is ONLY a free version of the Sitemap Generator.

There is NO paid/full/pro version of it whatsoever.

Are you talking about that, or the actual vBSEO product? The confusion arises because there is no free version of vBSEO, and no paid version of the Sitemap Generator.

Apolgies. I am talking about vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator v.1.6.1

The version (for instance) on Vbulletin.org on deals with the .htacces file and doesnt really explain how we get it working with ISS.

I'm a little confused. Sitemap and VBSEO both do the same things right? They make your pages appear static. Is there somewhere we can can see the difference between thew two products?

Sitemap Creator allows you to create sitemaps of your forum.

vBSEO is another product which turns your dynamic url's to static url's , and tons of other features. In my point of view a vBulletin forum without vBSEO is loosing tons of things.

To further clarify: the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generato creates 'sitemaps' to be submitted to Google or Yahoo (automatically in the case of Google).

These include all of the posts in forums that you choose, along with extra urls that you specify.

Think of them as a way of telling the Search Engine "Here is all of my site. Please spider it."

My web hosting refuses to allow me to install ISAPI_Rewrite so i was hoping VBSEO also included a site map to "kill two birds with one stone"

vBSEO and vBSEO Sitemap both require ISAPI_Rewrite if your site is running under IIS.
