I forgot to mention that.

Now, what I have left to decide is whether my host will like this or not.

Hmmm, I need to think about this.

there's 213124323112 hosts out there. If your current one can't provide for you, find another who will.

My current host is perfect for my needs - never had any issues with them, why would I change that ?

I'm on a HostGator shared account, like you, and I'm trying to get away as fast as possible. Server loads are abominable, and vbSEO would surely not help if you're on a server as overcrowded as mine.

I've actually created a vB Scheduled Task to monitor the loads every so often, at least up until I find a good VPS. I'd like to know the kinds of loads you are experiencing.

Once I get on the new server I will hopefully be getting vBSEO, although I've still yet to ask all of my questions here in Pre-Sales.

Maybe think about getting a better host that doesn't oversell/overadvertise on bandwidth and disk space. They might be perfect for YOUR needs, but you might not be perfect for theirs. Meaning I'd be careful with installing vBSEO if you already get a lot of traffic (for a shared) and are currently on a crowded server. From what I've read they have suspended accounts in the past, without warning, for using too much CPU time.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to tarnish HostGator's good reputation, but I have the numbers to prove it. I'm not angry with them, but their business/advertising tactics are certainly not to my liking. I'm sure they have great reseller and dedicated hosting, in fact.

Anyway, if you have already heard other HostGator members complaining about their experience with installing vBSEO, why would you try to press your luck?

Edit: If you'd like, I'll share my Server Loads log file with you after I let it run for a few days. If you would like help with creating the same vB cron let me know over PM. Maybe if you get a chance to look at your loads over a 72hr period, you can better judge if installing vBSEO will go over well for you, without upgrading your hosting.

A host which dictates what software you can run doesn't meet any of my needs, personally.

Would you let a landlord tell you that you couldn't have friends come around to your house?

I have no problems with Hostgator at all, my forum is fast and stable, just upgraded to PHP 5 and MYSQL 5, now it´s even faster, I don´t have a busy forum, I have yet to decide whether I need VBSEO or not.

If you want to take advantage of SEO to give your forum a greater chance of becoming successful, then you need vBSEO.

Hi wii,

I am not sure if you already made a decision, but I was looking around for some days and also looked at Zoint (not supported and seems to be quite bugy).
BUT vBSEO is soooo easy to install and the features are incredible. Also it is "just" $149.
I just activated it 1 hour ago and I am still working on my sitemaps, but what I can say so far: Buy it!

Cheers
Jo Ke

What about templates, can I use my own template or do I have to use a special template from VBSEO to take full advantage of this ?

You can use any template you want but vBSEO also offers a free style to license owners.

Still thinking....

It´s interesting to see that vbseo.com only has a little over 34000 pages indexed by Google, when I have 16000 pages (without) vbseo and only a 60000 pages submitted to Google, I wonder if vbseo does increase the amount of pages indexed by Google ?
