Is VBSEO for me?

Hi there,

I run a UK multi-gaming community Bad Ass Brits we have been around for 3 years I want to turn our small community into a large community with the plenty of posts a day regarding online gaming/gaming in general etc. Would VSEO be the ideal choice for me would it drive UK gamers to sign up join our boards etc?

To be honest the revenue side of it wouldnt be essential but hey amy extra cash would be nice ..

As you will see from the link below my boards have a small gathering with around 100+ members and around 4000+ posts.. I would like that to 4Xover within 3/6 months, is that possible?

Anyways thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and reply.

Results vary. Although you should expect sign-ups to be boosted when your incoming visitors are finding content relevant to their searches, this is (to a larger degree) improved by general marketing. How appealing is your forum when visitors arrive. Can you convert a guest visitor into a registered member.

However - any vBulletin powered forum that seeks more Web traffic can benefit and should have vBSEO installed.

Once you get vBSEO installed, you can basically set it and forget it. However, for best results you should still continue to:

- Add great new content
- Get backlinks to your site from others (i.e. other relevant sites)
- Continue with general marketing strategies to improve your forum

I recommend you get started with vBSEO and our sitemap. Once installed you can continue to seek new ways to improve your forum, and get working on fresh content and links back to your site.

Well I just took a quick look at your forums and vbseo will not help as long as your on page seo stays as it is now. You have serious problems to name a few: 1: your posts are not visible to guests and 2: you have no pagerank on any of your forum pages.

Posts for 24 Forums are visible for guests (there are some private forums but hey there is some privacy required in a gaming community.. would this effect me then??) Could you explain more abiout the forum PageRank? If you could elabarate on all other problems i maye have as well then I could make a clear decision on wheather or not purchase "VbSEO"..

Many thanks.

Well in this case privacy means no index for that particular forum can be made in search engines and so no one can find your website, you lose hundreds if not thousands of potential guests and/or users. So yes this effects you. I recommend to only use privacy/no guest viewing when it's absolutely necessary for example paid memberships that have private boards.

Pagerank is very important for the ranking your site will have in search engines, for example if your site has pagerank 1 but a competitor has pagerank 6, and someone searching on Google types in 'gaming forum' then chances are your competitor will rank higher in the serps and get more traffic. of course it's not this simple because you have to deal with other aspects like on page seo; titles, keywords in content etc.

Now the problem on you site is that you have on your index page a flash intro, it's all nice and cool but not a single web crawler can get past that page to find content on your site. They are basically looking at a big wall with no doors and soon they leave because there's nothing to do for them. That's why your main domain has only ONE page indexed in Google: site:www.badassbrits.com - Google Search and only 11 for the community sub-domain: site:community.badassbrits.com - Google Search

Now why do you need to take care of this problem first before buying vbseo? Because if you install vbseo and web crawlers can still not get to your forum urls, it doesn't matter how good vbseo makes your forum links look.

What you need to take care of is:

- On the index page of your site (your main domain), you need to use hyperlinks without flash, or find a solution to make the flash seo-friendly. These links need to point to all your main site areas, so not just 4 movies that direct to your subdomain ''community'.

- You need to get quality links to your main domain, to build up your pagerank. Its now 1, so you probably have one low quality link pointing to your site somewhere. Not good, you need multiple sites pointing to that domain so you get more pagerank, this will also help for better indexing.

- And you need better on page seo, so use keywords, title tags etc.

I realize this can all be confusing, but I recommend that you read more about SEO on these and other forums/sites so you will understand more of it. That is if you want to enhance traffic to your site.

Of course you can buy a vbseo license now, install it, and start reading about how to improve the rest of your SEO later, that's entirely up to you

Hope this helps.

Np. Ok links are there but can't see them. Watch out for hidden content it could get you in trouble. Some SE's don't like the fact you are hiding links on your site for human visitors. You could also just place the most important links on the bottom, or make a CSS based drop down menu (just a few suggestions). The best way for you to get inbound links is to swap links with other game sites and forums that are also not very big like your site. A friendly email (make sure their link is already on your homepage) to the site owner should get you a few link partners and help to get a better pagerank. Also submit your site to ODP directory and other free or payed link directories.

I also noticed you have a lot of keywords in meta, just to let you know, that meta keywords is not worth a lot these days, it's all about the title tag and using specific keywords in your content (not more than 2-3% of total content on page for every keyword).

Keep reading, with some small changes and the help of vbseo you can do a lot in relatively short time
