    Possible Performance Problems

    Hello,

I am thinking to buy vbulletin + vbseo in a month.

I asked several questions about vbseo in digitalpoint forums. Most of the comments were positive. (I also liked to see lots of features in hidden demo. I think an easily reachable and clear list of vbseo features will help you much! (just like in SMF forums: Simple Machines - SMF feature list) But i also learned that some people said (or think) that vbseo adds extra load to the server because of url-rewriting. I am having similar scalability problems with another url-rewriting solution for joomla and wondering how this problem is serious for vbseo!

Could you tell me how vbseo scalable? Do you have examples of sites having lots of visitors, having vbseo installed on a regular dedicated server (e.g. Pentium4)?

    Thanks.

    Vbseo installation + upgrades

    Hello,

I am thinking to buy vbulletin + vbseo in a month.

I saw some threads (on other forums) which talks about their problems of installing vbseo! And also noticed some comments saying that upgrade of vbulletin forums (e.g. bugfix releases) when vbseo installed is difficult!

So is it difficult to install and upgrade vbulleting forums with vbseo? And if i buy this software, can i ask the support team to install the vbseo and upgrade my vbulletin-with-vbseo forum? (If this help is for only limited time, what is this limit?)

By the way, i also saw some threads saying that your text "Powered by VBSEO..." should not be removed from my site even if i buy this package. Is this correct? If this is correct should i keep your link too? Because i am planning to sell links at the footer of my forum and thinking that that footer link both looks my site unprofessional and an extra cost especially for a software i paid.. So is it ppossible to keep the text but remove the link..

    Thanks.

    (Merged threads for easier management.)

Installation of vBSEO is very easy, and upgrading vBulletin is also very easy. vBSEO uses vBulletin's plugin system, so there is no need to even reinstall vBSEO after upgrading vBulletin.

Yes, the copyright message must remain, but you can choose a non-linked version of it to display.

I have not witnessed any server load increase with vBSEO. Installation and setup takes just a few minutes.

What are your current server load levels at peak?
It will not be much helty to comment about this at this stage since i bought the server recently and having serious problems related to OpenSEF (SEF extension for Joomla). And i am trying to fix that problem.. :(

Basically when i start to OpenSEF, everything looks perfect but once my server had over 5000+ indexed pages with high PR, it started show serious problems. (like lots of sorting queries taking lots of time on opensef tables or getting rewrite loops when i try to upgrade...) So once you start to use a third-party SEO solution, you somehow depend on them very much.. You can not revert back your urls.. So how i am safe with vbseo?

I am ready to answer your specific questions.. But as i said, i dont know it would be healty to talk about load levels at peak while i am having problems because of a SEO solution..

My server is a Pentium4 with 1GM ram. The number of pageviews daily on my main site is currently 10000-12000. The server url is Java Tips if these details help. And as far as i see, there is a performance problem because of OpenSEF on that site.

If your server is NOT already at or near its capacity you should not notice any performance impact with vBSEO. Typically, only sites that are running on overloaded services see anything significant. In these cases, there are often some additional customizations our support team can provide to help limit the effects.

Thanks for the answers. I am also wondering icube and zend option.

I did not use any of these products. I heard that they may also improve the performace of my other sites. Which one i should select? Are they free?

I guess i will need to install one of them. I have a CPanel environment on my server. Will it be easy to install one of the these from CPanel?
