    vBSEO changing profile URL

    Hi ,

    I encountered an issue with vb since i upgraded to 3.7

    I mean let say a user registered under the name "test" and another user registered under the name "test1" when the user named "test" tries to go to view his profile, he will be directed to the user under the name "test1"

    so similar names conflict with each others, with 3.6.10 that never happened. Is there a fix for this ?

    -----------

    and vb told me this

    Hi there Katie;
    That is due to vBSEO changing your URL... You should contact them and see if there's a way to correct that behaviour, it may be just a need to add the user id in the URL or something, but I don't know their product enough to help you. Sorry.

    Best regards,

    Hi Oleg

    Can u give more detailed instruction , like replace what with what ?

    i didn't understand this

    define('VBSEO_REWRITE_MEMBER_MORECHARS', 1);

    This would be replaced with what ?

    Hello Sacha,

    you should either manually enable VBSEO_REWRITE_MEMBER_MORECHARS option in includes/config_vbseo.php file:

    Code:
    define('VBSEO_REWRITE_MEMBER_MORECHARS', 1);

    or change your member profile URL format by including [user_id] part into it, like:

    Code:
    members/[user_name]-[user_id].html

    1. Open your vBSEO CP
    2. Click "+" in "Forum URLs" section
    3. Find "Member Profile" option and change it to custom setting:
    Code:
    members/[user_name]-[user_id].html
    4. Save settings.

    Hi Oleg,

    so something like this

    Member Profile
    Select a member profile URL format or create a custom layout using the field provided.
    NOTE: Since vBulletin does not allow for duplicate usernames, it is safe not to use the [user_id] variable.
    Sample custom string:
    u[user_id].html

    choose custom and insert this

    members/[user_name]-[user_id].html

    that caused anyone who i to be directed to the forum homepage whenever i try to click on their profile
