    Question vBCMS Section URLs?

I cannot seem to find this information anywhere there fore I am asking here. I am in the process of migrating our site from a home-built CMS to vBCMS (it's better than the one we built). Anyhow, a major goal of this project is to preserve as many of our existing SEF URLs as possible, especially our product URLs without relying on redirects.

OUr URLs are currently structured like /product/article.html (i.e. /gallery-hosting/zenphoto-hosting.html) I think this could be best accomplished using is vBCMS sections could be made to appear as directories; i.e. /vbcmssection/article.html. I don't mind manually creating the rules for our legacy content, however I would like to be able to have something similar but automatic for new content going forward.

Will this be possible with vBSEO?

    Thanks!

    Not a customer yet.

Nope, I haven't purchased yet and won't unless it can do what I'm looking for, hence posting in the pre-sales forum. Thanks.

    Sorry, i mis-read your post.

Currently, section ID's are required in urls in RC2. The devs are working on eliminating that so just include section titles.

However, articles/posts will always require an id, ie, product/article-123.html will be your new URL in the next release.
We can provide 301's for you, but it will be a manual process as the IDs will be on a per-page basis.

New content will automatically be created correctly real-time.

Thanks Brian. I'm not so concerned about ID's in categories, articles, posts, etc, just sections. Currently a visitor can visit my site just by going to oursite.com/productname and I absolutely must keep that functionality. Is there any way to accomplish that now or will I have to wait for the next release? And what is that approximate timeframe? Also, I can live with 301s for the individual product pages.

RC2 final is shipping shortly after vb 4.0.2 drops later this week. We don't have exact dates.

if /productname is a CMS section(category), it will work in the next build.
if /productname is a CMS post, it will not, not in this or final versions. Id's will be required for these areas even in the final build in order to prevent duplicate post titles having the same url.
