    vB Easy Archive 3.0.x

I'd like to upgrade from vB 3.0.x to the latest version and also get vBSEO to work with it. However, I currently have the vB Easy Archive from vB.org which has helped my forum get spidered and indexed well by Google and other SEs.

When I upgrade, I know I'll lose these indexed pages. How do I go about saving these indexed pages by vB Easy Archive? I don't want to lose them, but then there's a duplicate content problem I'd have to deal with?

Any help would be greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks.

i'm not familiar with the mod, but assuming it writes in a generic fomat like: site.com/forums/archive/1234.html
you can set up a custom re-rewrite rule (CRR) to re-direct all the SERP's to the new archive pages, or even better, the actual thread. You don't need the archive with vbseo.

Post your archive URL here to see whether you could be helped.

If there is still the threadid in the URL there should be a way.

I used vBSpiderFriend and got help from the vBSEO staff:

    Hey Kernel,

of course we will provide you with some rewrite rules to make sure that your old archive pages will be redirected to the new vBSEO URLs.
Please submit a support ticket after purchasing vBSEO

The URL to the vBulletin Easy Archive is vB Easy Archive - Search Engine Spiderable Hack! - vBulletin.org Forum

Philip: How would the redirect work if the Easy Archive hack won't work with the latest vB version?

    Hey Alex,

I'm pretty sure that it will be ported

And with vBSEO you will have the ability to create custom URL layouts, therefore I'd say that it shouldn't be a problem.
But I'm not sure, I have to ask another staff member (to be honest).

Once you have the redirects happening with .htaccess, you won't even need to have that hack installed anymore.
