    Absolutely,

To achieve that, you will need to change your URL rewrite settings to include the forum path [forum_path] with [forum_title] as the forum path bit.

If it was set like that here in vBSEO.com, this thread would be *virtually* located in the directory:
This URL structure is seldom used as it makes your threads appear 'deeper' within your website. However, depending on the complexity of your forums, it might very well give you a desired hierarchy...

I personally use a '1-level-deep' hierarchy here (@ vBSEO.com) just because I'm inclined to believe that relevancy for a specific sub-folder might increase based on the content within it... example: /f55/[a bunch of related content here that will increase the overall relevancy of f55 for vBSEO Pre-Release Questions] // I also see other benefits of using this approach such as being able to track SERPS for a specific forum (site:vbseo.com/f55/) - of course, some might disagree, but then again, that's the beauty of vBSEO... you have the choice

note: many use the all in root approach as well (root/forum-here.html & root/thread-here.html)

    Ok .. Thanks

I have another question . Can one specify a there own name for a url i.e

    http://www.domain.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=1 to

    http://www.domain.com/boxing22

regardless of what the forum title is . The forum title maybe Newyork Boxing

I know that from the previous post you can do

    http://www.domain.com/Newyork Boxing

    Thanks

It's not possible to rewrite vBulletin URLs in a different manner because these are hard-coded rewrites and CRRs are not applied to them for performance reasons.

Also, rewrite rules in .htaccess will enable you to transform:
    to
    but won't let
    link to be rewritten to
Therefore, you will have two urls that can be used to access the same forum, one is manually entered in .htaccess and the second created by vBSEO.

Sorry, there's no workaround for this...

Some custom .htaccess rules can be done for this. However, it will make your upgrades more complex and might bring other issues.

If you wish to have everything in root, I recommend to simply change the core installation of your forums to /root and everything will work perfectly.

Please PM so that I can give you some custom .htaccess rules that will redirect all current yoursite.com/forum/dinamicurl.php?x=something to the new /root, static URLs.
