Can someone tell me how frequently updates for vbseo are being released, approximately? And are updates sometimes being released for security fixes, or only for new features?

How easy or difficult is it to upgrade?

How easy or difficult is the installation of the script itself?

You can see our announcement forum and the dates on the releases coming out. vBSEO is a very stable product, any known security issues are put top priority for us. Most updates are for new features. vBSEO is extremely to update/install. Just upload the files, and import the product and you are finished. Hope this helps.
