    Upgrade Dilemma

I have been searching through the forums and I haven’t quite been able to find an answer to my question so I will post it here.

I am in the processes of setting up a vBulletin 3.8 forum and I'm almost completed. One of the final things I would like to do is get vbseo for it. The problem is I know I am going to buy the vBulletin 4.0 publishing suite as I will eventually need the CMS features (articles and blogs). The ONLY reason I am not using 4.0 now is that there are a few mods that I need that have not yet been upgraded to the 4.0 suite for compatibility.

What I have decided to do is use 3.8 for now (just the forum) and upgrade to the 4.0 publishing suite once it matures and the hacks become available for 4.0. My question is:
    1. Will this work keeping the same version of vbseo (whatever the newest version is 3.5) for both 3.8 and 4.0?
    2. Also will the search engine friendly URL's stay the same for all of the previous forum links?
    3. And finally, is there a way to test vbseo software on a test forum, inside my intranet before I make it live to the public.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    1) vbseo 3.3.2 will not work on vb4. You must upgrade to vbseo 3.5 when you move to vb4. 3.5 RC2 does work on vb3.8, but is still a bit buggy on the 3.x platform. Either way, the 3.x and the 4.x series require a different product file, so which ever way you go, there will be a vbseo 'upgrade' step involved.
    2) yes, provided you don't change install directories or change URL rewrite styles
    3) yes, a test license is provided free with all paid licenses. Of course, you must purchase a license first.
