    Subdomains for CMS, forums, etc.?

    Is it possible to have vbseo handle the URL structure so that:

    www.site.com = all CMS content
    forums.site.com = all forum topics

    and that the URL in the browser bar doesn't change to forums.site.com if you're looking at CMS data?

    For whatever it's worth, I've searched this site with whatever access that non-licensed customers have and haven't found a definitive answer. So this isn't just a "hey, I'm too lazy to look for the information I need so let me post" question.

    It'd be nice to know either way if this is possible or not.

    Hello,

    Yes I know that it is possible with the blog and cms, and pretty sure it is with the forum. I will flag this topic for a developer to confirm.

    Hello,

    yes, this is possible - you will define forums URL in vB admincp as http://forums.domain.com and Custom CMS domain in vBSEO CP as http://www.domain.com and that should be working (asuming that both subdomains are pointing to the same folder on your server).

    Oleg,

    By doing this the URL structure will stay the same as it was in 3.8.4? IE.. The URL will still look like this.. Disclaimer - PrisonOfficer.Org Forums ?

    When I upgrade I just don't want to lose my seo work.

    Also.. For this method to work.. do I need to remove the subdomain entries for "Forums" "Blogs" and "Albums" from my virtual host files?

    if not.. Do I install the files in the ROOT dir or in /Root/forums

    Yes, just do NOT change forums URL in vB admincp and keep Forum URL formats unchanged in vBSEO CP.

    You should keep them as is, just make sure that your CMS domain (www.domain.com) is pointing to the same folder where forum files are located.

    Is it better to place the vb upgrade files over the existing install in /home/public_html/forums and just point www.domain.com to that dir or install them in the root at /home/public_html and make sure all subdomains are wildcarded to /home/pulbic_html?

    I would just point www.domain.com to that directory (if you don't use www domain for something else).
