    Some questions

    Hello,
I started my forum about a month ago and I'm new to this vBSEO thing and need some help and advice.

    1. Is there any installation guide or instructions on vBSEO? Is it easy to use?

    2. If my forum board is at www.mydomain.com/forum, where do i install vBSEO at? Just inside public_html or in public_html/forum?

    3. Is vBSEO effective? I mean will the thread(s) started by users in my forum be display in the 1st page of search engines when someone key in the similar or related search keys/title to the thread(s)?
E.g. if I started a thread called "How to install software A" and when a user enter "how to install software a" on the search engines, will my forum's title topic and the URLs be display on the 1st page of the search results? If it can, how long will it takes? And is it instantly ?

    4. Are those keywords or word content in any of my forum's thread(s) be searchable and display in the first page of search engines? Is it instantly or need to take some time and if need to take some time, roughly how long will it take?

    5. Is vBSEO automatically generated and update all the thread(s) and content in my forum? I mean do i need to enter or key in keywords/tags/sitemaps manually?

    6. I am usign the default style of vBulletin v3.8.1 and will there be any problems using vBSEO?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I really need some help and advice on these questions.

    Thanks

    1. You can review the install instructions at http://www.vbseo.com/readme.html. It's very straightforward.

Once you are installed, we can give you some extra tips on the best settings to use. After that, you can let it run without changing any of the options.

    2. Install in your forum directory /forum/

    3. vBSEO optimizes your entire forum instantly upon install. However, it certainly does not guarantee page 1 ranking for every page you create. We would love to be able to do that, as would every other SEO person on the Internet. What we do is optimize your forum on a thread by thread basis, helping each thread rank better, and allowing you to harvest thousands of visitors from thousands of different search terms. This is called long tail SEO. Check out:
    http://www.vbseo.com/blogs/joe-ward/...long-tail-145/

vBSEO is very effective at delivering long tail SEO traffic.

    4. Yes, each thread will be optimized for the keywords on the page. With our update services and Google sitemap, Google will usually find your content within hours or days and schedule it for crawling. There are many factors that will determine how quickly a particular thread will send you traffic. In general, you should expect *more* of your threads to deliver *more* traffic, *more* often with vBSEO. We encourage you to check your results over a 30/60/90 day time frame to determine how quickly your forum is growing.

    5. Yes - vBSEO is automatic. You don't need to do anything special on any page. You create the page normally and it's optimized in real time.

    6. Default style is fine. vBSEO works seamlessly with just about any style imaginable. It would be extremely rare to find a conflict in this area, and it will not happen at all with a default style.

Please let us know if you have any other questions that we can help you with.

    Hi Joe,
Thanks so much for the reply and answers.

However now my biggest concern is the effectiveness and ranking part. So after I install vBSEO, e.g. if my forum domain name is www.mydomainname.com and if I search "mydomainname" on search engines, will there be more results? As now I try "mydomainname" on Google, it has only about 4-6 results regarding to "mydomainname" and none are relating to the topics/threads in my forum.

So my question is how long will it take for the effect to take place? I mean how can I test it out the outcome after installing it for 1-2 days. Will there be more results shown on search engines when I key in my domain name to test it out?

    Please help advice.

    Thanks.

1-2 days is not enough time at all. Google is NOT instant. Most people report seeing some action around 7 days, and good results by weeks 3-4. Of course, there's expections to everything. Some are picked up that day, some don't see action for longer than 4 weeks. It's entirely up to google. BUT, with vbseo, the tool is there to aid that process. giving clean links and a sitemap to back it up, probably 99% of users are happy with the results of it.

Instead of searching for yourdomainname, you need to focus on your long tail of your topic. Odds are, unless your domain is a household name, that's NOT what people are going to be searching for.

ie, you wouldn't search for "joes blog". you'd search for "long tail seo" or something like that to end up on joes blog post.

To test results, you should set up google analytics (or another tracking software if you chose to) Natural search referals are the figures to look for.

Hi thanks for the reply and advice.

    Sorry, but I need to address somethings which I'm in doubt;
If I do not test my domain name on the search engines, how can I know if all the sitemaps/titles/topics/threads/URLs are being indexed and being rank by the search engines? I mean all the search results will have my site's url domain name link below (like what Yahoo has).

If I need to wait for so long, I might just use Google's webmasters free SEO and their scripts and register to those free keywords/SEO sites by doing the manual meta tags/keywords/sitemaps entries etc...

What I want to know is if after installing vBSEO, will the topics, content and threads titles etc... be shown or included in the rankings and search results of the search engines. I mean if e.g. my forum is a IT forum and some topics may be same as those Big Boys IT sites and will mine be shown at the 1st few pages like those Big Boys? How can I test after installing vBSEO for a few days/weeks that those content are being indexed and included in search engines? Any other tools or ways? I would like to compare the results on before and after installing of vBSEO, how can I do it?

    Please help advice.

    Thanks.

You will never have the same success without vBSEO as vBSEO is offering a link consensus which removes all your duplicate urls. With or without vBSEO , SEO is an ongoing business , there is no SEO miracles that brings you to top rank on one day. If you achive link consensus and increase your on page SEO with valuable content on your site , you'll be able to success quicker.

You can use Google Analytics and compare your incoming SE referral numbers. Thats the best way to do so. We also have an additional free product which is on beta stage which you may be interested at http://www.vbseo.com/f5/livestats-go...-v1-0-a-32225/
