Should I wait or do it now?

    Hi,

We've been wanting to purchase VBulletin and Vbseo and integrate them together.

But since Vbulletin 4 is just around the corner and getting closer to the release of their alpha version, we're having some serious dilemma here.

Like other forum based website owners, we're after a CMS as the front end, and Vbulletin (Vbseo-ed) for discussion.

We've done our research for months and since last year and come up with a few options and questions for Vbseo and other forum owners here:

    1. Buy Vbulletin and Vbseo now and upgrade later
Will it be very hard to upgrade to Vbulletin 4 when it's officially released providing that we don't do any hacks etc, so just have Vbulletin + Vbseo, how hard it will be to upgrade to Vb4 once we got vb3.8 and vbseo installed?

    2. Focus on building front end (the content) with a CMS i.e. Vivvo and wait until VB4 is released, and purchase later. But this means we will have to get rid of the Vivvo and use Vbulletin 4's CMS.

Now you can see why we're in dilemma?

Thank you for your feedback and opinion.

    Hello Irwin ,

vBulletin + vBSEO is the correct approach imo. However i didn't understand why you are planning to get rid of Vivvo and use vBulletin Cms instead ? Vivvo is really a decent CMS script. vBulletin CMS will make out the surface soon but i doubt it will have a feature set close to Vivvo. Vivvo also has an integration with vBulletin which allows you to share users and latest posts.

If i were you , i would purchase vBulletin and vBSEO and install them immediately. Both vBulletin and vBSEO upgrades are not an hassle at all. Thats why you shouldn't wait and loose the days you can play with vBulletin and vBSEO.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hi Irwin,

You asked about the difficulty of upgrading from 3.8 to vB4 with vBSEO when it gets released. I'm happy to tell you that Jelsoft has invited us to test an early alpha version of the software. In so doing, we anticipate having our full compatibility release available either on or very near the release date of vB4 to all customers.

vBSEO was always designed non-intrusively. Our upgrade process is very streamlined, and you will not run into any difficulties at all. Of course, in the event you have any question, the vBSEO Total Support Team will be standing by waiting to assist you.
